Pueblo Lucero is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation and a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 42-5154861). This page explains what we collect on pueblolucero.org, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: hello@pueblolucero.org.

What we collect

Email signups. If you subscribe, we collect your email address, which list(s) you chose (quarterly newsletter, volunteer and event alerts), your language, and the time you agreed. We email you a link to confirm; you are not added to a list until you do.

Emails you send us. If you email us or use a button on our site that opens an email (volunteering, partnering, mentorship requests), we receive what you write.

Eyeglasses program interest list. If you sign up on our eyeglasses interest page (pueblolucero.org/vision) or on a paper form at an event, we collect your name as a parent or guardian, your phone number and/or email, how you prefer to be contacted and in which language, how many children in your household might benefit from glasses, the choices you made (contact about the program, newsletter, text messages), and when you agreed. We do not ask for any child's name, age, school or health information, and we ask you not to send us any.

Donations. Donations are processed by Givebutter on its own pages. We do not see or store your card number. Givebutter shares donor information with us, such as name, email and gift amount, so we can thank you and send a receipt. Givebutter's privacy policy applies to what it collects.

Basic site logs. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase) may log technical data such as IP address and browser type to keep the site running and secure. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. We do not run advertising or tracking cookies. Your language and color-theme choices are saved in your own browser only. We do not track you across other websites, so there is nothing to change when your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal. Our eyeglasses interest page loads no third-party fonts or scripts.

How we use it

To send the emails you asked for, run our programs and events, thank donors, and meet legal and tax requirements. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.

Eyeglasses interest list information is used only to contact you about that program and to count how many families are interested. When we share numbers with partners such as a school, a service club or an eye care provider, we share totals only, never names or contact details. We share your contact details with a specific provider only if you agree to be contacted by that provider.

Who helps us

Service providers process data on our behalf: Google Firebase (hosting and our subscriber database), an email delivery provider (currently Resend), Zoho (our organization email), and Givebutter (donations). We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your signup until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record of that choice so we do not email you again. Eyeglasses interest list entries are deleted automatically after 12 months, or sooner if you ask. Paper forms from events are entered into our records within a week and then shredded.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored with Google Firebase, encrypted in transit and at rest, and only authorized Pueblo Lucero team members can open it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

Your choices

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, and we will respond within 45 days. If you live in California, you have these rights under California law, and we will not treat you differently for using them.

If you agree to text messages, they are only about the eyeglasses program. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never required to sign up. We do not share mobile phone numbers or text-message consent with third parties for their marketing.

Children

Our email lists and sign-up forms are for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. The eyeglasses interest form asks a parent or guardian only for a number of children, never their names, ages, schools or health information. Our mentorship requests ask for a parent or guardian's contact for anyone under 18.

If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
